Child Centred Play Therapy

Child Centred Play Therapy involves the Play Therapist supporting the young person every step of the way.

In CCPT, the child takes ownership of the play space. The therapist ensures that a safe atmosphere is created to gently support the child’s development through the therapeutic power of play (TPoP).

The child is free to play with anything in the room, while the therapist remains a reliable source of support and attachment. Our only rule is to take care of each other and the toys.

Research suggests that working with children in a non-directive way reduces problematic behaviors, such as internalising (anxiety, worry, frustration) and externalising (anger, aggression, violence) behaviours.
